Job Description


An FP&A Analyst is a trusted financial partner/advisor to business units. They understand business activities, financial and non-financial reporting needs, and provide thorough analysis and recommendations that inform decisions. An FP&A Analyst will be the liaison between corporate finance and accounting and the business units they support. They will use their expertise and influence to provide guidance to business unit managers and support company strategies.


Responsibilities


  • Provides data-based insights to management for budget variance analysis and other performance measures.
  • Builds knowledge of existing tools and trains others in their use.
  • Provides advice on accounting treatment (e.g. capital vs expense).
  • Prepares responses to regulatory data requests.
  • Develops new budget and financial models/tools to apply to business units.
  • Prepares recommendations for annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Take primary responsibility for support of planning application(s) and/or major company planning and prioritization efforts.
  • Provides education to business units on financial concepts and processes.
  • Develops performance measurements, gathers data to monitor success, and identifies training needs.



Requirements


  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Tax, Utility Operations or related field.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of management in the organization
  • Ability to work with minimal direction
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret data
  • Works well in a team environment and matrix organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills



FP&A Analyst I


  • 2 years of related experience
  • Experience with regulated utility finance/accounting
  • Experience using and building reports in planning tools such as Oracle Hyperion/EPBCS/EPM, SAP, Tableau, Cognos
  • Intermediate Excel skills such as pivot tables, conditional formulas, lookups, and data extraction/cleansing formulas



FP&A Analyst II


  • 5 years of related experience
  • Increased depth and/or breadth of business unit partnership
  • Proficiency in regulated utility finance/accounting
  • Proficiency in planning tools, including creation of advanced reports/dashboards



Other Combinations Of Education And Experience May Be Considered.


Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
